Who we are.
Climbing Victoria is the representative body for recreational climbing organisations and individuals across Victoria. Our organisation is built on a diverse and experienced community of climbers, working together to support, advocate for, and grow the sport.
Climbing Victoria became an officially incorporated association on 6 May 2024.

Purposes
As defined in our Rules of Association, Climbing Victoria’s purposes are:
The Association (Climbing Victoria) will function as the peak body for outdoor climbing in Victoria, representing the diverse voices of climbers and climbing organisations for the betterment of climbing.
Our stated purposes are to:
● Develop, promote and support culturally and environmentally sustainable outdoor climbing practices and behaviours
● Facilitate conversations and foster relationships between external parties, including Traditional Owners, land managers, the government, and other key stakeholders, on matters relating to outdoor rock climbing in Victoria.
● Advocate for respectful and sustainable access to outdoor climbing in Victoria
● Develop and support climbing organisations and nurture our leaders
● Support Traditional Owner decisions to protect cultural values and promote respect for Country
● Advocate for diverse and inclusive participation in climbing
● Encourage communication and share ideas across the Victorian climbing community
Code of Conduct
Respectful partnerships - We agree to work in ways that foster trust and respect for one another. We make decisions through clear communication, collaboration, and we always aim to avoid surprises.
Courage - We speak up about the things that matter to us in ways that are kind and constructive. We support one another in challenging conversations.
Listening & Learning - We recognise when we do not know and seek to learn. We value learning together and from one another. We make time to listen and learn before taking action.
Diversity and Inclusivity - All voices matter and must be heard, respected, and considered fairly. We commit to actively represent the diversity of the climbing community.
Integrity - We are aware that our actions are visible to the community, and we do our best to uphold trust and integrity in all that we do.

Board Composition & Voting Process
Five board members will be elected by Full Member Organisations (FMOs) at the AGM.
If there are more than 30 individual members, they will have the opportunity to elect an Individual Member Representative to join the board.
The elected board (five or six members) appoint a Chair, a Secretary and at its discretion a Treasurer.
The board may appoint up to three additional members (for a maximum of nine) to enhance diversity, skills, and experience.
Nominations for Board Positions
Any member can nominate themselves or be nominated for a position on the board. Full Member Organisations will prioritise candidates who bring a strong mix of skills, experience, and perspectives to ensure a well-balanced and effective board.
Board members are expected to make a meaningful contribution to Climbing Victoria’s direction and operations, aligning with our Purposes and Code of Conduct.
